*Neville's parents were tortured to insanity by a group of Death Eaters after Voldemort was defeated the first time. They live in St. Mungo's in a closed ward for people with spell damage throughout Neville's childhood and a good part of his adult life.
House: Gryffindor

Neville comes from a pureblood family (not that it matters to him). His parents Frank and Alice were popular and dedicated Aurors. After Voldemort was defeated the first time a group of his loyal Death Eaters captured the Longbottoms and proceeded to use the Cruciatus Curse until Frank and Alice were catatonic. Neville has been raised by his grandmother ever since.
For many years his family worried that Neville would be a Squib - to the point where his Great Uncle Algie dropped him off the pier at Blackpool in the hopes of forcing some sign of magical ability. Then when Neville was eight Uncle Algie held him out a window by his ankles and accidentally dropped him. Neville bounced and rolled down the lawn.
At Hogwarts Neville was originally best known for being forgetful, clumsy and virtually a squib. He was soon discovered to be loyal, honest and brave even if just by a select few to begin with.
After joining Dumbledore's Army in his fifth year Neville really began to come into his own in regards to his magic.
Once Voldemort was defeated the second time, Neville went back home to the house he'd been raised in and spent several years building up his own greenhouse business while waiting for Professor Pomona Sprout to decide to retire and free up a position as Herbology Professor. Once she did Neville returned to Hogwarts to teach his passion.
Not long before the Third War, the love of Neville's life returned and they decided not to wait for anything or anyone any longer. Neville and Luna took a Thestral drawn carriage to Scotland and got married.
They're currently pudgy.
